Brief Description about the Project:

  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco and St. John’s Research Institute, funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. This cluster RCT was designed to implement and evaluate an intervention to primary health centres on outcomes in patients dually diagnosed with mental illness and cardiovascular disease/diabetes in 50 Primary Health Clinics in rural Karnataka.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for shipping supplies to the field sites, keeping track of lab results and making sure that all the study field staff members are trained on human subjects procedures
  • Keeping track of patients who are referred to the PHCs from the screenings, going through PHC charts to identify potential co-morbid patients already registered.
  • Keeping track of all assessments for the patients enrolled at the PHCs
  • Assisting in recruitment at health fairs as needed
  • Planning the field activities and also ensuring adequate enrolment and follow occur each day
  • Making sure participants are contacted each day for assessments
  • Contacting and informing participants to come for assessments
  • Making sure blood reports are handed over to the participants

  • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economics status, caste, gender and sexual orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
