Brief Description about the Project:

  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and St John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Bangalore funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. It is a 5-year observational study designed to evaluate a real-time, wireless monitoring device used by People Living with HIV (PLHIV), who are taking antiretroviral medications. This novel adherence measure will be validated with a hair drug concentration measure of medication ingestion. The final phase of the study will evaluate device reminder features in a pilot RCT.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in managing the daily operations of all aspects of the research study.

  • Previous experience supervising a component of a research team
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Handling budgets and other project-related financial tasks
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience in tracking patients or study participants
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economic status, caste, gender and sexual orientation
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule

Specific Activities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in supervising the staff involved in assessment, data entry, data management, laboratory procedures and adherence monitoring device in coordination with the on-site and San Francisco-based investigator
  • Assist in arranging weekly supervision meetings with the senior staff and document the minutes
  • Assist the Project manager in ensuring timely adherence to the study protocol
  • Assist the Project manager in coordinating all pieces of the study in collaboration with the US-based study coordinator
  • Assist the Project Manager in writing weekly progress reports to the San Francisco team with project information for grant management and reporting requirements
  • Assist the Project Manager in overseeing the budget, coordinating with the St. John’s Research Institute to maintain subcontracts and accounting per protocols established by SJRI, UCSF and the NIH
  • Assist the Project Manager in overseeing office management
