Brief Description about the Project:

  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Bangalore, funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. It is a 5-year observational study designed to evaluate a real-time, wireless monitoring device used by People Living with HIV (PLHIV), who are taking antiretroviral medications. This novel adherence measure will be validated with a hair drug concentration measure of medication ingestion. The final phase of the study will evaluate device reminder features in a pilot RCT.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collection of blood samples from subjects at various collaborative sites
  • Separating plasma from these samples, preservation of plasma and shipment of plasma to outside centres
  • Filling LN2 into freezers and monitoring their temperature
  • Maintenance of relevant records
  • Any other responsibility as assigned by the Investigator & Project Manager

Key Skills:

  • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economic status, caste, gender, and sexual orientation
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Kannada and English
  • Previous experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & a team player
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Word, experience with MS Excel
