Brief Description about the Project:

  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco and St John’s Research Institute, funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. This cluster RCT was designed to implement and evaluate an intervention to primary health centres on outcomes in patients dually diagnosed with mental illness and cardiovascular disease/diabetes in 50 Primary Health Clinics in rural Karnataka.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Project Manager will be supervised by the Principal Investigators: Dr. Ekstrand and Dr. Srinivasan and will be responsible for managing the daily operations of all aspects of the research project.

Key Skills:

  • Experience managing an international research project
  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Kannada and English
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and experience in tracking patients or study participants
  • Organized and detail oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socioeconomic status, caste, gender and sexual orientation
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule

Specific Activities:

  • Supervise all project staff, including those involved in recruitment, enrolment, delivery and evaluation of the intervention, data collection, data entry and data management in coordination with the on-site and San Francisco-based investigators and project coordinators
  • Regular supervision meetings with senior staff as well as all-staff meetings
  • Ensuring protocol adherence, quality control and human subject protection
  • Overseeing the budget, coordinating with the St. John’s Research Institute to maintain subcontracts and accounting per protocols established by UCSF and St. John’s
  • Writing regular project reports with consultation from the on-site PIs to provide the San Francisco team with project information for grant management and reporting requirements
