Brief Description about the Project:

  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and St John’s Research Institute (SJRI) funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. It is a 5-year observational study that will evaluate an adherence monitoring device developed by our previous study for use with People Living with HIV (PLHIV), who are taking antiretroviral medications. This novel adherence measure will be validated with a hair drug concentration measuring medication ingestion. The final phase of the study will involve a pilot intervention, using device reminder features.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of all aspects of the research study under the supervision of the Principal Investigators.

Specific Activities:

  • Supervise the staff involved in assessment, data entry, data management, laboratory procedures and adherence monitoring device in coordination with the on-site and San Francisco-based investigator
  • Weekly supervision meetings with the senior staff
  • Ensure timely adherence to the study protocol
  • Coordinate all pieces of the study in collaboration with the US-based study coordinator
  • Writing weekly progress reports to the San Francisco team with project information for grant management and reporting requirements
  • Overseeing the budget, coordinating with the St. John’s Research Institute to maintain subcontracts and accounting per protocols established by SJRI, UCSF and the NIH
  • Managing the project office and staff

Key Skills:

  • Experience managing an international research project
  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Kannada and English
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience in tracking patients or study participants
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economic status, caste, gender and sexual orientation
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule
