ICMR One-Week Course in Health Research Methodology and Evidence Based Medicine (November 17 - 22, 2014)
St. John’s Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore in association with Population Health Research Institute, McMaster University, Canada, conducted a one-week course on Health Research Methodology and Evidence Based Medicine from November 17th to 22nd , 2014.
The Karnataka Medical Council had awarded accreditation and 6 credit points for this workshop.
The workshop was designed for faculty and postgraduate students from medical, nursing and pharmacy colleges, ethics committee members, regulators and health policy makers.
Of the total 49 that registered, 36 attended this workshop that represented over 17 institutions from India and Sri Lanka.
The course methods had 21 interactive lectures, 4 small group Zen project discussions, 4 statistical practical sessions, 4 journal clubs and 4 project presentations.
The course ended on 22nd Nov with a valedictory function at which prizes were distributed to the best two groups. The course prizes were awarded based on the academic performance of the group. Certificates of CME accreditation and participation were given to candidates who had attended all the sessions on all the days.
The outcome of the course was to enhance the awareness in clinical research methods and evidence based practice.
This course would also help to empower them with skills in designing, developing and conducting high quality research projects and communicating the findings.
