The two-week Advanced Course in Health Research Methodology was held between 3rd and 15th September, 2012.
Along with eight mentees of the batch 2011, 20 participants from 20 different institutes of 14 cities were selected by the selection committee after evaluating their application form, research aptitude, project proposal and CV.
Two International participants from other CoE - one each from Nairobi and Colombo had been selected by the selection committee after evaluating their application form, research aptitude and with their experience in working in similar settings.
The course had 17 lectures in research methods, 16 sessions in statistics (theory and practical), 5 group discussions and 4 journal clubs.
An online learning management system SUMMIT was used during the course. SUMMIT served as a repository of all study materials including full-text articles, presentations, additional reading materials and administrative files. Faculty directed online assignments, group discussions and feedback systems were initiated to evaluate and guide candidates at different stages of the course.
Eight mentees presented their project to the course participants and faculty during the last two days of the course.
