Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) is one of the major signaling pathways involved in tissue patterning as well as disease progression in vertebrates. Shh-signaling is hyper-activated in several cancers including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). In CML, Shh-signaling is responsible for proliferation of drug-resistant leukemia initiating cells. This project is aimed at deciphering the correlation between Shh signaling and drug-response in Indian CML patients. We aim to identify Shh-producing and responding cells from CML patient sample to further help us in evaluate the different extracellular-forms and partner of Shh in CML progression.
