Effects of maternal iodine supplementation in an area of mild iodine deficiency on infant cognitive development and auditory threshold

Details

The aim of the project is to examine the impact of 200 mcg of iodine supplementation to pregnant mothers on cognitive development and auditory threshold in children till 2 years of age using a randomized, double blind control design. The primary outcome measure is cognitive performance assessed on Bayley’s Scales of Infant Development. In addition, we are studying the effects of maternal iodine supplementation on infant auditory threshold. Both the cognitive performance and auditory threshold in infants are assessed at 1 and 2 years of age.
