A qualitative analysis of nurses' attitudes towards patients with potentially stigmatized diagnosis

This study aims to understand the perceptions of nurses towards people living with HIV (PLHIVs) and mental illness in Bangalore, India. This study proposes to use qualitative semi-structured and in-depth interviews to assess nurses’ behaviour and perception regarding PLHIV and mental illness.  It will compare how the dimensions and drivers of stigma affect nurses’ attitudes and behaviours when treating and caring for people living with HIV and mental illness.  The study includes qualitative semi-structured interview sessions with nursing personnel working in the areas of HIV and mental illness.
