Brief Description about the Project:
This is an ICMR-funded project under the National Mental Health Program that aims at evaluating the efficacy of telephone-based psychosocial interventions on future suicide risk in suicide attempters. This project involves work in hospital and telephone follow up.
Core Responsibilities:
> Screening of participants, administering tools, recruiting the participants and documenting the same
> Delivering intervention over the telephone
> Carrying out qualitative interviews
> Carrying out follow up ratings over the telephone
> Report writing
Key Skills:
> Fluency and proficiency in Kannada and English
> Preferable to know Tamil, Hindi and Telugu
> Should be able to demonstrate empathy
> Should be able to develop rapport with patients and caregivers
> Administering screening tools to arrive at a diagnosis
> Mental health evaluation
> Maintenance of data records
> Able to clearly communicate through phone
> Should be able to provide support and counsel through phone
> Report writing and writing papers
Specific Activities:
> Establishing rapport and obtaining consent from the participants
> Administering screening tools and recruiting the participants for the study
> Delivering intervention using the manual developed and carrying out follow up ratings
> Maintenance of database
> Completing ethics submission
