Brief Description about the Project:

The ongoing research projects at the Division of Nutrition, SJRI involves use of stable isotope based techniques to measure vitamin pool size, amino acids bioavailability, body composition, total energy expenditure by using Mass spectrometry.

Assistant Specialist, Mass Spectrometry 

Position Starting: 15th March, 2024

Experience: With five years of relevent experience in Mass Spectrometry.

Roles & Responsibilities:

This position requires strong analytical instrumentation skills including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various mass spectrometers and HPLC equipments. Hence, the candidates are expected:

  • To demonstrate proficiency in a variety of MS-based applications for the analysis of proteins/peptides/Amino acids, vitamins, hormones and other small molecules for identification and quantification.
  • Must be skilled in various sample preparation techniques and must be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Expected to review existing literature, draft summary reports as guided by the study coordinator for the activities linking to the Division of Nutrition.
  • Carry out sample analysis on GC-MS, GC-P/C-IRMS and LC-MS systems including data analysis & interpretation.
  • Support method development and validation activities, sample preparation, chromatography, data acquisition, data analysis and data interpretation using a variety of mass spectrometry and software platforms.
  • Review existing protocols and preparing standard operating procedures (SOPs), operation, maintenance and repairs of equipment.
  • Responsible for entire laboratory organization and management process.
  • Contribute to building scientific support systems and resources

In addition, the screening/recruitment of the participants for the respective clinical studies. Collecting background information of the participants as per the schedule provided by the coordinator. Assisting study coordinator in conducting the human clinical studies, processing biological samples for storage and record maintaining etc.
