Audio Film

Mar 27,2014

- By Sindhu Thirumalaisamy

Dear Colleague / Friend,

You are invited to experience and give your feedback on an Audio Film (29 minutes) by Sindhu Thirumalaisamy.

It is focussed on a re-looking, or rather, a re-listening to restricted medical spaces (ICUs, theatres, wards, etc). The film maker uses a non-medical gaze to look at the interactions between people and technology in these spaces. It is an attempt to create a window through which to break away from an ‘anaesthesia that permeates the entire hospital environment’, to be able to experience the hospital beyond its strict medical functions.

  • Sindhu Thirumalaisamy (b.1990 in Coimbatore) is an artist and film maker based in Bangalore. Her work often begins with acts of listening and explores the relationships between information, perception and imagination in public spaces. She graduated from Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in 2012 with a focus in Digital Video Production. She currently works as a freelance sound recordist and editor, collaborating with artists on a number of audio-visual projects. Her work has been shown at Khoj International Artists Association, Bangalore International Centre, Goethe Institut and several film festivals including IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival, Urban Lens Film Festival and Voices from the Waters International Film Festival.
