The making of a film, especially in a documentary context, creates a new connection and understanding between the filmmaker and their subject. These include a sensitive approach to interacting with people, questions about representation, consent, truth, subjectivity and the complexities that arise when ideals are to be translated into practice (Blum, 1991). The process of filmmaking thus has great potential to facilitate self-reflection on the theme of ethics and compassion.

The project will consist of multiple workshops across 8 sessions covering three modules: one for camera, one for sound and one for editing. The end outcome will be short films of 2-5 minutes which will be exhibited and discussed by the participants and invited persons.
