Details

For achieving wellbeing through the school system be it residential or not, a strategic systems approach with sufficient handholding from experts is required. This project aimed at developing, testing and using training resource materials to supplement what was already available through the Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) by building capacity by an orientation skills training program of 7 days of Master trainers (19 from Hyderabad Region) and Nodal team members (10% of teachers, school staff or nurses = 425) from the 73 schools of the region; handhold them in implementing the three levels of support namely whole school and classroom level, small group support and individual support through telephonic calls, refresher training of 3 days and visits to schools. The programme was called Building Wellbeing in Schools - Adolescence Education Programme Plus (AEP Plus). An online monitoring and evaluation format using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) was developed, validated and pilot tested. Training resource materials are being finalised to bring down training to 5 days with focus on whole school approach for promoting wellbeing. 80-120 master trainers will be trained for meeting the capacity building needs of 10% of teachers and school staff of all 595 schools in the country.
