Harvard India Nutrition Initiative (Funded by: USIEF)

Details

Despite a well-documented dual burden of diseases related to both under and overnutrition, public health capacity is still developing in India, and population-based approaches to improve nutrition-related outcomes are hindered by this training gap. A collaborative effort between scientists at St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Harvard Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) and Tufts University have undertaken the multidisciplinary program termed the Bangalore Boston Nutrition Collaborative (BBNC) and the goals of BBNC are threefold: to conduct an interdisciplinary 2-week course in nutrition research methodology, to support faculty and student exchanges between the institutions for bilateral capacity building and to develop web-based courses for distance learning.
