A double blind, randomized, two-way cross-over study to investigate the uptake of iron from micronutrient fortified powder versus from tailored control in milk (Funded by: GlaxoSmithKline)

Details

This is a double blind, two-way cross-over, dual isotope randomized, stratified (by gender) study in children aged 7-10 years. The study will aim to recruit a target ratio of 50% girls and 50% boys with a minimum of 40% of either gender.  The main objective of the study is to determine the difference in iron uptake, as assessed by difference in the uptake of stable iron isotopes (57Fe (Iron) and 58Fe (Iron)), from micronutrient fortified nutritional powder (test product) in milk vs. energy, iron and calcium matched unfortified powder (control product) in milk.
