This study aims to conduct a partly open label interventional trial with vitamin B12 deficient pregnant women randomly assigned into 3 groups; Group-A receiving milk proteins with vitamin B12 (10mcg/d), Group-B receiving milk protein with placebo and Group-C supplemented with placebo (control group) to measure methyl group production and utilization (methionine transmethylation, homocysteine  remethylation and transsulfurration) as well as birth outcomes.

The second objective is  to compare the methionine fluxes with methylation of the promoter regions of specific genes in placental tissue in these women.

The third objective is to synthesize and characterize the stable isotope of vitamin B12 to understand the vitamin B12 bioavailability.
