High resolution melting (HRM) is a new methodology for polymorphism scanning wherein the scanning is carried out in the same tube or well in which the sequence is amplified. We have evaluated the use of HRM as a tool for detecting known SNPs using as a proof-of-principle known polymorphism in human ALDH1A2, c-Ret and Pax2 genes. We propose to use this technique in detecting polymorphisms associated with different disease conditions.
